Students Skype with Astronaut Scott Kelly at MOS

On Tuesday, December 8, 2015, IACS biochemistry students visited the Boston Museum of Science to attend the High School Science Series event on “So You Wanna Be An Astronaut?”. Students participated in a 20 minute Skype session with Commander Scott Kelly, an American astronaut currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Commander Kelly provided insight on what life is like on the ISS, including how the human body changes in a microgravity environment. After the Skype session, students performed hands-on activities in the museum’s Space Exploration and Hall of Human Life exhibits and attended a planetarium show called “Inside NASA: From Dream to Discovery”.

Talking with astronauts was one of the best experiences I've had. To learn about the ISS from someone with personal experience was great. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the Museum of Science and learned so much not only about the body in space, but about what goes into getting people there.” - Lindsey Fazio (12th grader)
