Clubs & Activities

Band:
Band is a fun group that meets Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays after school from 3:00-4:30. Students can choose to learn flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, or trombone. Students also learn to read music. No previous musical experience expected! The band will perform three concert dates during the school year: December 17, 2012, March 11, 2013, and June 3, 2013. Chorus:
Do you like to sing? Join the Middle School Chorus in room 146 Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays 3:00-4:30. We can work around your other activities! Emailsmitchell@innovationcharter.org or just show up!
 
Dungeons and Dragons:
Whether you are an expert or a beginner at solving mysteries and fighting monsters, the D & D club is a fun place to be! We will be meeting every Monday after school (from 3:00-4:00) in room 305. If you are interested, please have your parent or guardian send an email to Mrs. Muhigi kmuhigi@innovationcharter.org . If you have any materials bring them, and come prepared to play!
 
Environmental Discussion Group:
The environmental discussion group will meet every other  Tuesday starting on Sept. 25th from 3-4 pm. Each week there will be a theme. Topics may range from how food gets to your plate, water pollution, conservation, environmental problem solving,  global warming, and action steps.  If you would like to join the club, please submit 3-4 sentences explaining why you are interested in discussing these topics and what topic you would like to discuss.  Deliver to Ms. Patterson or emailmpatterson@innovatoncharter.org
 
Garden Club
The IACS Hawkmoths are our Middle School garden club, where we work to conserve habitat for butterflies, dig in the dirt, build, weed, plant flowers and make friends! We meet on Wednesdays, either from 12:30-3:00pm or 3:00-4:00pm. Join us to learn about plants and bugs and have a great time out in nature! Global Leaders Club:
Students will work in teams to research global issues that they care about. Then, they will design action projects. We will meet every other Monday in Room237.  To join you should be able to attend regularly. Any middle school student can apply but only some students will be selected in order to keep the size of the group at an appropriate size. Please fill out an application:

Robotics Club:
Robotics club will meet after school in room 241 from 3:00 - 4:15. Students will be able to use Lego Mindstorms robotics equipment and design a robot themselves, follow a plan, or do an Artbotics project. Tuesdays: 10/16, 23, 30, and 11/6.
 
Yearbook Committee:
Responsible for publishing the IACS Middle School Yearbook.  Peggy Stephens-North will meet with the 7/8 Team on Mondays during lunch/recess/SSR, while the 5/6 Team will meet with Mary Gaynor on Mondays from 3:00-4:00 PM. We are accepting a limited number of hard-working individuals ready to make a year-long commitment. We will be photographing events and documenting IACS activities, using our two brand-new Canon Rebel T3 DSLRs Yearbook Committee Form is available outside the Main Office and should be submitted by October 1, 2012.
