Policy Governance is a system, a model designed around accountability, with a focus on the goals of an organization, the outcomes, and monitoring their alignment. Policy Governance frees the Board from common challenges of finding itself too involved in operational details, and provides clear accountability for both the Board and the Administration.

Among the goals in adopting Policy Governance, the Board wanted to:

• continue to focus on a future vision
• empower the Head of School to focus on education, operations, and compliance
• ensure a healthy and productive ongoing relationship between the Board and Head of School
